We believe an important component of YMCA Youth Sports is the concept of fair play and respect for oneself, one's opponent and others involved in competition. Players, volunteer coaches, officials, and spectators share a responsibility for fair play and good sportsmanship. Good sportsmanship for the YMCA is encompassed by the concept of positive character development.

What Kids Learn in YMCA Youth Basketball
Got Game? Hit The Hardwood With The Folks Who Invented The Game - The Y!
Basketball was invented in 1891. While teaching at the International YMCA Training School, James Naismith was given the challenge of creating a game that could be played indoors during the cold winter months. Hanging simple peach baskets and using a soccer ball, Naismith created the game of basketball and wrote the first 13 rules of the game.
The YMCA of Central Ohio Youth Basketball is open to kids ages 4-17, with programs & leagues running year-round. Every child should participate in every game and should receive equal playing time, regardless of skill level.
